The Ultra-Thin Phone Trend in 2025: Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge and Chinese Brands Join the Slimming Race

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge was officially teased at the 2025 Galaxy Unpacked event on Wednesday

Samsung teased its new phone at the 2025 Galaxy Unpacked event – the Galaxy S25 Edge, previously known as the S25 Slim. This phone will be slimmer than the other models in the Galaxy S25 series, and on the same day, Samsung also launched its flagship Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra phones.

According to recent updates, popular Chinese smartphone brands like Xiaomi, Vivo, and Oppo are also planning to release ultra-thin phones in 2025, similar to the Galaxy S25 Edge. These phones will likely be positioned in the mid-range or budget segment, offering better battery capacities, possibly around 4,500mAh or higher.

Rumors suggest that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge will feature a 6.7-inch flat display, Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, and a 3,786mAh battery (with a typical value of 3,900mAh). It will have a dual rear camera setup, and its profile might be as thin as 8.3mm, dropping to 6.4mm with the camera module. The launch is expected in May.

Apple is also working on a slim version of the iPhone 17, possibly called the iPhone 17 Air or iPhone 17 Slim. This phone will be significantly thinner than the other models in the iPhone 17 series and may have a smaller battery, between 3,000mAh and 4,000mAh.

It seems like every brand is racing to make their phones thinner, and this trend is expected to grow even more in 2025. Do you like the idea of thinner phones?
