iPhone 17 Series to Retain 'Largely Unchanged' Dynamic Island
Ming-Chi Kuo has said that the iPhone 17 series — which could include the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max — will have a “largely unchanged” Dynamic Island, just like the one on the iPhone 14 Pro models. This means there won’t be any major changes to it this time. This claim contradicts previous rumors that Apple might shrink the size of the Dynamic Island.

The Dynamic Island currently houses the selfie camera and Face ID sensors. Apple plans to eventually move these components under the display, so there won’t be a visible cutout.
According to Kuo, there won’t be any major changes to the size of the Dynamic Island in the iPhone 17 series, which goes against earlier leaks. Another analyst, Jeff Pu, had mentioned that the iPhone 17 Pro Max might use a new “metalens” technology for the proximity sensor, but Kuo believes there won’t be significant changes.
Apple had previously shrunk the notch size (like on the iPhone 13), but it seems we’ll have to wait a little longer for any change in the size of the Dynamic Island.
Interestingly, the iPhone SE 4 might also feature the Dynamic Island, with a design similar to the iPhone 14, but instead of a notch, it would have the Dynamic Island.
So overall, if you were expecting the iPhone 17 to have a smaller Dynamic Island, it seems you’ll have to wait a bit longer!
